In this last unit, we were asked about the subject of Utilitarianism and the work of John Stuart Mill:  After looking at the pros and cons of utilitarianism, would you consider yourself a utilitarian or not? My response was: After looking at the pros and cons, I would consider myself to be a utilitarianism in part. The ideas of utilitarianism is for the good of the majority of people - this is a pro - because behind this idea the good of the majority is taken into consideration. However, the drawback is that not ALL are taken into consideration and this leaves those without the "majority vote" at risk and having no say so in matters that affect them. This being said, I do not believe that one can call themselves a true utilitarianism without understanding and agreeing that sensitive issues and ones that are considered to be for the better good (according to some) can have an adverse reaction on others and feel ok with that decision.

"So act that the rule on which thou actest would admit of being adopted as a law by all rational beings" (Mill, pg. 433).
